ENGLISH RULES 2005

The competition is open to all film directors presenting shortfilms run in any format and realised not before 2003 and whose duration is decided by the respective sections.

For the pre-selection, the shortfilms must arrive in DVD or VHS format (with english or italian subtitles). The authors of the works selected for the final phase will be allowed to send, once received the admission to the competition, a copy of their work in DV or MINIDV format within 7 days (with english subtitles).

Two different sections of competition are foreseen:
a) fiction section - dedicated to narrative shortfilms - max. duration 15' (excluding head and final titles)
b) language section - dedicated to video-art and sperimental works - maximum duration 10' (excluding head and final titles) Documentaries are not accepted.

Each participant can present more than one work but only one short film for each author and each section can be admitted to the final phase of the selection. Works already selected for the final phase at previous editions of A Corto di Cinema will not be admitted to the final phase of the actual competion as well as works that have already received awards in other international competitions for shortfilms at the date of subscription.

The works must arrive complete of an illustrative form indicating: title of the work, duration, nationality, technical casting (art director, screen-play, subject, photography, music and editing), artistic casting (interpreters), production, eventual awards or nominations received in festivals and competitions accompanied by one photo. At the moment of subscription, the author must indicate the section where he wishes to collocate his work. The same can be collocated in more sections.

One group of experts will make a selection of the works to choose the shortfilms admitted in the respective sections. Each participant will be informed by post about the result of this selection. The group of experts reserves the right of collocating in another section the works not considered suitable with the chosen section.

Another group of experts, appointed by the organizers of the competition, will value the selected shortfilms to be admitted to the final phase and will assign the following awards: Best film for fiction section, Best film for language section, Two special mentions for those works that have been nominated for particular technical, artistic, or social-cultural reasons; 5 special mentions for technical profiles (direction, photography,screen-play,etc.). he total amount at disposal of the competition is euro 2.000 : first award section fiction - euro 600; first award section language - euro 600; 2 special mentions - euro 250 each one; award of the public - euro 300 The shortfilms admitted to the competition will be showed in a final day, in the Cinema Italia of Lucca, in the month of September. At the end of the shortfilms, the awards will be consigned to the winners.

All those who are interested in this competion will have to subscribe within 8.07.2005. The works must be sent within 8.07.2005.to A corto di cinema/Cineforum Ezechiele CP. 66 - Lucca 2 - 55100 - Lucca.

The authors in competition must assume the responsibility for the works presented . The group of experts, after consultation with the organizers, reserves the right of 1) not assigning the award in case the number of participants is not enough to justify the competition itself. In this case, the amounts paid as subscription will be refunded to the participants; 2) suggesting the projection of particularly valuable works, which however do not have the features requested by the competition , in other sections outside the competition. The works sent or consigned will not be returned to the owner. The response of the group of experts cannot be discussed. In case the winners are not present at the moment of the consignment of the awards, the same will be sent by registered mail. The travel expenses met by the participants of the competition present at the award night will not be reimbursed. The works will be kept in the files of A corto di cinema deposited at the site of the association Cineforum Cinit Ezechiele 25.17 in via Santa Gemma Galgani, Lucca..
